THE STORY OF MELOJUSTICE
Highlights: Most certainly, one of the highlights was the Releaseparty of 'Till The End Of Time', their debut album. The release on 7th March 2007 took place in a crowded Stairway to Heaven in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and was hosted by the one and only Henk Westbroek (Het Goede Doel, former radioshow Denk aan Henk, etc.) Other highlights: Melojustice performed in the worldwide well-known venue Ahoy' in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on the Night of Rocking Rotterdam on December 9th, 2007! Also, the band played live in New York (and city) last year! This year the band appears on national Dutch radio for the first time (100%NL, 3FM)! Very special was the release of the single We All Feel Young, a re-recording of We All Die Young with the help of the children's string orchestra SPE, conducted by Genevieve van Dijk. The b-side is also a re-recording. It's Till The End Of Time also with SPE. The proceeds of the sales of this single, which is available in stores now, go to the non-profit organisation KiKa. They support and finance research on cancer in children. History: Summer, 2003. Melojustice was born by the fact that guitarist Jeroen threw an ad on the internet to find musicians to start up a band and singer-songwriter Jean-Paul reacted to it. In the late days of that same summer, they found this very motivated man who was eager to play the bassguitar and who had the same mindset like the other two guys. There was a stable threesome right now, and the ingrediënts for the band were: Vocals, acoustic and electric guitars and bassguitar. A drummer was found in the autumn of 2003 to complete the band by that time. Playtime! A lot of things happened in the years that came and went. Very soon they recorded their demo EP in early 2004(!), a few months later their demo single. They played a large amount of liveshows, from cool rocking untill acoustic ones with guestmusicians on the violin, flutes, tambourines and backing vocals. They even shot their own try-out videoclip on 'Screwed Anyway' but never released it. Their just mentioned demo created good conditions for them, because they met the people that were to become the producers of their debut album, and because the demo version of 'Screwed Anyway' appeared on the compilation album 'Arising Artist presents...', spread on the Noorderslag / Eurosonic festival in Groningen, Netherlands and on the Midem festival in Cannes, France. Both in January 2005. In 2005, they decided to record their debut album in the Pro Music Studio in Eemnes, the Netherlands. This turned out to be an interesting process and a great experience for the band. During the recordings, they met awesome people. They worked with the musicians Dave van Beek (eg. Acda & De Munnik) and the great Glenn Corneille (Boris, Do, TROS Notenclub). Alas, mr. Corneille deceased in 2005, many years too early. The band was and is supported by Richard Poot from the studio and by Albert Hol, who has a long, long history in the music scene. General info: Nowadays, these people form the core of the band: Jean-Paul van Wel: Vocals, Electric and Acoustic Guitar, Harmonica; Jeroen Meertens: Electric and Acoustic Guitar, Backing vocals; Brian Kruit: Electric Bassguitar and Acoustic Guitar; Nolan Thijs: Drums. Right now, the guys are working on new songs and an expanded line-up... Let's see what happens next! One thing is for sure: Their will be surprises again, because that has proven to be a fact on Melojustice! |
